Our crew was super-de-duper excited to head back to The Great Wolf Lodge! We had so much fun last year at Great Wolf that the kids and I were dying to go back. To add to the fun this year the kids were given Great Wolf headbands that they absolutely loved wearing. In fact the next day Joy forgot she had it on. Grandma greeted her and said, “Are you a mouse or a… What are you?” My daughter looked at her as if she’d lost her mind and said, “I’m a human!” Ha ha!
We checked in on a Sunday. That morning we went to church, ate a quick lunch, ran home to change into our swim suits and checked into the resort. By the time we got into the waterpark it was about 4:00. It was a blast to watch how much more Bobby enjoyed the water this year. He was so much braver and just had fun in the kiddie area.
Little Jason was tall enough to go on a couple of the big slides this year. We went on a couple with Daddy, and then was happy to play in the younger kid area the rest of the time.
When I didn’t enlist one of the three girls to play with Bobby and help keep an eye on him in the water, I hardly saw any of them. They had a blast on all of the attractions!
I brought snacks that served as our supper, and I let the kids eat whenever they wanted. I love that Great Wolf Lodge does let you bring your own drinks and snacks into the park!
We played up until eight o’clock when the two boys were completely petered out. I took them to our room and got them ready for bed, while Jason rode the slides in the dark with the girls. One slide in particular was super cool with different colored lights they said.
This time we stayed in the Family Suite. Jason came to play at the waterpark with us, but at this point in his new job he couldn’t take time off, so he didn’t stay in the hotel with us. When we were all in bed, he went home so that he could get up early and go to work the next morning.
The Family Suite consists of two queen beds and then this sitting area with couch that folds out into another bed. While we LOVED the Grizzly Bear Suite last year with two bedrooms, since it was just me and the kids I preferred being all together in one room this time.
When Jason brought the girls up to the room, the boys and I were already in bed. They quickly changed out of their suits and got in bed just in time for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory that had just started on TV. We stayed up late into the evening watching the movie. It was so fun, great memories!
Since Jason wasn’t there to help with the kids the next day and I had family arriving at my home that day, we enjoyed a leisurely morning in the hotel and then headed home. We will have to back to play the Magiquest game again.
Great Wolf Lodge is a one of a kind family experience. I wish everyone could enjoy it! There are lots of ways to find discounts: Like their Facebook page, join their email list, and keep an eye out for Groupons! Definitely put it on your family bucket list!
