This is what I made the kids for lunch February 4th. All of you health nuts–look away. I called the kids to come eat. The looks on their faces and the excited chatter did wonderful things for this mama’s heart! I simply used a cookie cutter to make the heart shapes from slices of homemade bread. I spread Nutella hazelnut chocolate in between the slices and around the hearts. (You could use chocolate peanut butter too. Or you could do jelly in the middle and peanut butter on the outside.) Then I spread the chocolate around the heart and added the sprinkles.
There was absolutely no complaining about having to eat this meal! This one was extra fun for me.
Well since I had all of the left over bread from the cut out hearts I decided to make bread pudding the next day.
I had never made bread pudding before. I did a Google search, picked this recipe, and went to work. The only thing I did differently was adding three drops of red food coloring to the sauce, making it a pretty pink for our Valentine moment of the day on February 5th. It was really good! We can’t decide which of the treats has been our favorite.

I so enjoy you sharing all of your Valentine’s activities. I always want to do more for V’s, but usually just get the basics done. Maybe next year, I’ll motivate myself into getting an activity a day accomplished like you’re doing. Love it!
Wow, now those are cool. I could start celebrating Valentine’s Day for treats like that…
That is so fun! My girls love heart sandwiches, but I had never thought of putting the cute sprinkles around the outside. Thanks for sharing!!!

I love that you do so much for Valentine’s Day! The sandwiches are so cute! My girls love anything that has sprinkles 🙂 Thanks for sharing!
Sugar rush! 🙂
Oh, the sandwiches are SO wonderful… I’m gonna do that for my kids 🙂
I love the sandwich idea. We are doing hearts this week because of Valentines day and because our letter is H, I believe I can see myself making these. I’ve tried bread pudding in the past and can never get it to turn out right. But I really love your heart pan and tinting it red.
