Does the start of school have your family down? Head out to my favorite Texas water park Schlitterbahn South Padre for one last summer hurrah! We did just that!

My family and I were invited to Schlitterbahn South Padre. We were given Schlitterbahn South Padre Texas water park tickets for a day in the park. The opinions reflected are honest and based upon my own experience.

A friend recently told me she doesn’t enjoy water parks in the summer because waiting in line is too hot! She needs to visit our family of Texas water parks: Schlitterbahn South Padre! We jump in the river as fast as we can upon arrival and don’t get out until we’re hungry or nature calls. It’s one of my favorite things about the park.

There is so much to do from the river; we love to spend the entire day in the water! There’s even a conveyor that takes you from one side of the river to the other. All there is to do is relax and enjoy the ride.

Attractions in the Water
There are so many attractions in the water. We love to just float around and around until we’ve done them all. Here are a few of our favorites.
Rio Aventura
Rio Aventura is the huge circling river that connects many of the Schlitterbahn attractions. From slow lazy river to wake-you-up rapids, the experience on the river is never the same twice.
Agua Blanca Tube Chute
This is a moderate thrill tube chute that takes you up and down some small rapids. It’s not very scary, but it sure is fun. Almost every time through Agua Blanca I’d get turned going backwards. It’s so much more thrilling when I can’t see what’s coming!
Pirate’s Plunge
This fun Pirate’s themed tube chute takes you twisting and turning through the channel with water spraying and sound effects included!

Gale Force
One of the four uphill water coasters and probably our favorite is Gale Force. Yes, the line for this slide is also in the water! After a short conveyor lifts you up the first hill, the water blasters take over and power you up and down throughout the slide.

Then you end back in the river for your next adventure in the water!

How to wait in line
Not only can you relax on your tube in the water while you wait in line, but the lines are shaded most of the way.

This is how to do a water park in the heat of the summer, y’all! Convinced yet? 🙂

Indoor water park
If you’re still worried about too much heat and sun, Schlitterbahn South Padre also has an indoor water park to explore. The Torrent River is smaller than the outdoor Rio Aventura, but it’s fun and in the shade.

These double slides are also in the indoor water park along with Pirate’s Cove, a fun water play area for little ones.
Looking for higher thrills? High thrill slides that call for stairs and waiting outside can also be found in the outdoor park, but when it’s Texas hot, we just head for the river.

Our family is growing up so fast, and we spend little time in the younger kiddo sections of the park. We enjoy the whole day as a family racing each other through the river and seeing each one’s reaction on the higher thrill rides.

I wish I could just bottle up this feeling of spending the days having fun together and save it for later. Oh these times are so precious! I do cherish my photos and memories though.
Someday maybe I’ll have the chance to start over with the grand kids in the kiddie areas. One can dream!
What are you waiting for? Ditch the new school season blues and head out to Schlitterbahn with the family. For more information and to plan your day, check out Schlitterbahn South Padre.
