Love Those Honest, Helpful Remarks!

Joy has told me twice now, “Mom you’re fat…but I still love you!”  Thanks dear?  Already she’s calling me fat.  This is going to be a long nine months!

When I was expecting Jason Jr.,  I was about six months along.  A lady I hadn’t talked to  in a while came up and said, “Esther?  That is you isn’t it?  You look different.  Did you change something?”

“Yeah, about forty pounds!” the words came out before I could stop them!  I have always hoped that I didn’t embarrass the poor lady.

When I was young I was so skinny I thought my one consolation would be that I would be one of those cute, skinny pregnant ladies, but it was not to be.  I have always managed to get quite large.  It’s not something I look forward to, but it is definitely well worth it, in spite of the miles and miles on the treadmill that await me!

(Just so you know I actually looked for a huge pregnant picture from the past to post today, but I couldn’t find one.  No really I couldn’t! )  🙂

I am normally skinny too, but have gotten large in my pregnancies. About 55-60 pounds with both of them (I guess that’s just what my body likes to gain – considering I gained the same amount with a singleton as with twins, LOL!)

Hi Esther. I enjoy your ability to see the funny side of things. We could all do with that. When I was 7 months pregnant with my 2nd baby, a bald guy who did business with my husband asked me if I was pregnant or just battling to lose the weight from the 1st baby. In my head I was thinking “in 2 months time I won’t be pregnant but you’ll still be bald!” Considering I didn’t want to ‘offend’ him, I said ‘yes, I’m pregnant!’ Could have been one of those “I got the better of him” moments! Ah well, look forward to reading more of your posts. God bless, Tracy

I always got large too, but I convinced myself it was ALL water weight. It worked :).

Esther, you are always beautiful no matter what you weigh. I remember shopping for your wedding dress with you, when you were wearing size 1!

Since you can’t find a picture, you’ll have to be sure to have one taken right before this new little bundle is born!

worse moment of pregnancy… i was at the park with my son and was 10 days from my due date with baby number 2… i was making small talk with someone and i mentioned that i wanted to bring J to the park so we could have some time together since little sister was due in 10 days… the stranger looked me up and down (im a bit heavy) and said “REALLY?!!??”…. wow, that made me feel like a hormonal whale…. 😉

About two weeks after my last baby was born, I was at Kohl’s. Two eldery ladies saw me, and my left-over belly, and gushed, “Aww! You’re so cute! When is your baby due?” Um… at least they thought I was cute! To their credit, I did NOT have my baby with me, so they had no way of knowing. Still, it makes one feel… FAT… to hear comments like that.

You just hold on to Joy’s little comments 🙂 I am sure when she grows up she will love it when you repeat them to her! As in Joy, you’re fat, but i love you! LOL See how her pregnant hormonal self handles that!

I gained 60 lbs with my first, but when I was first pregnant I called my grandmother to tell her the news. She said, “Oh NO! You can’t get pregnant now! You are too heavy…if you get pregnant now you will be fat forever!!” uhhh, gee thanks? For the record, I am 90 lbs lighter than I was the day I delivered #1. And yes, I still speak to my grandmother. (sheesh!)

I gained alot with my first, but hardly any with the second.

I’m sure you will look beautiful, no matter what. 🙂

I’m sure you’ll whip back into skinniness in no time. Of course, once someone I hadn’t seen in a long time asked me if I was pregnant. I threw that shirt away. Lol.
