It was so fun to celebrate 15 years with Joy! For her birthday, Joy wanted to invite the whole family. I like to say she is my social butterfly stuck in a family of introverts. For Joy the more people the merrier!

Our traditions
Flowers from Daddy
Daddy brought her flowers. I loved these blue and white roses. Joy loves all things FROZEN from the Disney movie and these roses just screamed her name.
Fast food lunch
Have you ever eaten pupusas? They are an El Salvadoran food. We became familiar with them at a little dive in the DFW area. Joy absolutely loves them, and when we moved we were so excited to find a yummy Pupusa place.
The birthday dinner
For this years meal Joy requested Potato Soup, homemade rolls, Jalapeno Pimento Cheese, and Strawberry Pretzel Dessert. I added a salad for something green.

What we appreciate
Just before blowing out the candles the birthday guest must endure a little appreciation. We go around the room from youngest to eldest and each person says something they appreciate about the person celebrating a birthday.
For the last year or so Joy has been spending a day or two each week at my parents’ house. She helps fetch and carry whatever they may need, cooks simple lunches, files, organizes, and just enjoys spending time with them. She is such a blessing to serve this way, but the best part is that she loves doing it.
In her spare time she has learned crochet from my sister and loves to make little gifts for people. I love the creative and giving spirit she has. She loves to plan and surprise people with thoughtful little gifts.
This summer she has been practicing basketball and plans to try out for the local homeschool team.
Happy, Happy Birthday to my Joy!
