February first is the day we put up our white tree and decorate for Valentine’s Day. I wrote about how this tradition got started in this post. It’s fun to see how much the kids have grown since last year too!
This also began our count down to Valentine’s Day. We have a Valentine themed activity or treat each day. The kids call it “The Valentine thing of the day.” They are mostly simple little things, but the children look forward to them with great anticipation. Years ago I decided to quit expecting my husband to bless me on Valentine’s Day and decided to bless my family instead! Decorating our tree and taking our annual pictures are just the beginning.
The kids usually get new T-shirts that we wash and wear as many times as possible in the month of February.

Well, as I can’t seem to take my Christmas tree down, I should maybe decorate it like this 😉 It’s not white, but at least it wouldn’t look like I was stuck in the Christmas season…lol. I actually decided the other day that I was being silly and was going to take it down, but my kids all threw a fit and didn’t want to….so it stands. Love your white one, though!
Has anyone ever told you that you are very very strange. Fun traditions. But strange. I think I’ll just stick to my anti-Valentines tradition ;-/
How fun and memorable for your kids. I love celebrating all holidays, but never thought of this, too cute
What a cute idea!! I could have kept my Cmas tree up. It’s white like yours, only smaller. And I do hate taking it down each year, because … well … I just think it’s pretty. 🙂
Loved your sentence about not expecting to be blessed, but to bless others. Right on, girl!
(Found you from MckMama’s site, btw)
I love this! What an adorable idea! 🙂
Beautiful picture!
I love this! I remember it from last year, and I still love it! Funny enough, I just took down our tree…I decided that since January was over, I could put away the Christmas decorations! 😉 But, this sure makes me want a Valentines Tree!
Your little man is adorable. I am digging his outfit!
Your kids are so cute.
Love your holiday ideas. This year I”ll turn my green Christmas tree into a Valentine’s Tree ! and then have mint chocolate fondue on St. Patrick’s Day — sounds awesome.
For those who have a green tree– you can buy red lights or red and white lights including lights that actually are hearts. There are also various ‘”Christmas tree”decorations in the form of a heart and cupid. Even if you don’t have a white tree you can pull of an authentic look.
Just curious, I notice from your posts that you didn’t get a Christmas tree one year, another year you went to your parents but didn’t get gifts until you got back which were some used games. Why the lack of ”concern” for Christmas?
I’m glad you liked some of our ideas! No not a lack of concern for the Reason we celebrate Christmas, but yes a lack of concern for the commercialism of Christmas.
