We boarded the Alaska Railroad GoldStar Service Train on the last day of our Alaskan adventure. I was beyond tired. Would it be everything everyone said it would be? Yes, and more! This was worth every penny and effort and then some. If you make it all the way to Alaska, ride the train from Denali to Anchorage.
There was something beautiful every minute. No matter how tired I was, I could not sleep. I would miss too much. I kept thinking that eventually there would be a less scenic stretch where I could take a nap, but there never was one.
This is exactly what I saw. I have a strange relationship with photography. I’m not like some people that are after really neat, unique, and amazing photos. I like to capture exactly what I saw the way I saw it, so that I’ll remember just that. I didn’t even pull out my zoom lens. I didn’t spend lots of time editing, cropping, or changing these photos. The countryside was just that beautiful.
Toward the very end of our journey we were blessed with this beautiful rainbow. It was actually a double rainbow, but the second one is really hard to see. This is looking to the back of the train.
Then we arrived in Anchorage. I was a little sad, and a little happy. We went straight to the airport where we had several hours to wait for our overnight flight that left at 1:00 am.
Sitting straight up overnight in the cramped space of an airplane is not the best way to spend the night I’ll tell ya that, but we were happy to get home and see our kids.
Make those plans and get to Alaska. You won’t be sorry!
