Yellow Menu

I had a bright (pun intended) idea to have a yellow food menu to bring in spring!  I know I do crazy, silly things, but it’s FUN!  We brainstormed yellow foods that would be easy to throw together as it was going to be a busy day.  This is what we came up with:

Yellow-Food-MenuThe Menu:

Egg Salad Sandwiches on Yellow Bread

(I made a loaf of yeast bread with eggs.   The eggs give it a yellow tint, but I did put in a little yellow food coloring as well.)

Pineapple Flowers

(I called them flowers, but one of my girls thought they looked more like suns.  Little Jason looked at it and said, “Snow flake.”  Uh being that it’s yellow…I went with flower.  What do you think?)

Lemon Pudding

Natural Cheetos

Pineapple juice

And here is the traditional family photo.  ๐Ÿ™‚

The kids decorated the table with their yellow toys.  I thought it was cute!  My husband came home and said, “Why is there a pillow on the table?”  Ha ha!  He is a good sport though!

After is was all said and done Faith, my oldest, said, “It was fun mom, but yellow doesn’t seem like a spring color.”  Looking at it now maybe it does look more like summer.  I don’t know, but I will tell ya that this Texan will not be putting on any celebrations in honor of the coming of another hot summer!

Happy Spring to your house from ours!  We’re trying to focus on the birds chirping and beautiful weather and not on the onslaught of allergies.  How about you?

Esther

This Iowan will not be celebrating summer, either. I actually feel like I got jipped when it comes to winter – my favorite season.

We in Massachusetts barely noticed the coming of Spring this year since Winter seems to have forgotten us all together. I am not complaining! I am off to the Sunshine state on Monday there is plenty of summer there already.

Daffodils are some of the first flowers to come out in the spring, so yellow is a legitimate spring color. ๐Ÿ™‚

Your husband is quite the good sport, even wearing a yellow shirt. ๐Ÿ™‚
    They look like suns.

We’ll have to try yellow next. We did green for St. Patricks Day.

    Yay for yellow…my favorite color!
A couple years ago when my teen did education days with my granddaughters, she chose green for the weekly theme.
We colored applesauce and macaroni and cheese green. She served lime flavored Kool-Aid. She asked for the girls to wear green shirts for the day.
I miss the girls’ pre-school days and the fun Jasmine had with them. She took a lot of time each week picking the theme then finding the activities to go with the theme.
