Our public library ends their summer reading program each year with the Mayor’s Super Reader Party. Each child that has logged forty hours or more is invited. My kids look forward to it every year. The mayor gives them each a medal and certificate, and pauses long enough for parents to capture the memory. All three of my girls logged enough hours! They were so excited.
Of course what they most look forward to is the cake reception afterward!

What a fun idea! Great job girls!!!
Wow how fun for the girls! Hey cake is always the best part!
Well done to all three… Always a good thin to instil in young people – reading and perseverance! (and the love of cake of course)
Great job to your kiddos!
Although the mayor is making a very goofy face in Grace’s picture!
How fun! We get a little closing party and some coupons but the girls like the free book best. I should talk to our mayor and see if he would be interested. Might be fun!
I’m so happy the girls are being encouraged to read. Reading is what I did for fun every spare moment before there even was any tv!
Aww! What a special celebration. My kids also love the summer reading program at our local library. But there’s no awards ceremony with the mayor! (Of course, our small town doesn’t have a mayor…)
