Do you always have a song in your head? I can’t say there’s a song playing in my mind at all times, but much of the time there is, even though I don’t realize it.

Things that happen or things I think about, tend to inadvertently produce a song in my head, that at times I don’t even know is there, until I find myself singing lines of a song out loud. Many times, I don’t even know the whole song, just phrases.
When the kids complain about the food…
“Eat it, just eat it.
Don’t want to argue, I don’t want to debate
Don’t want to hear about what kinds of foods you hate
You won’t get no dessert ’till you clean off you’re plate
So eat it” ~ Weird Al Yankovic
When the kids say their bored…
“I’m bored. I gotta find something to do. I’m bored I’m like a cow with no moo.” ~ Tim Hawkins
Marriage related bursts of song…
After an argument with my husband, I was walking around doing some housework, when I heard myself singing, “I don’t care what you say any more this is my life!” Ha ha. It actually shocks me, when I hear the words coming from my mouth.
Recently, I had a horrible dream that my husband left me. It was one of those dreams that goes on and on, and when I woke up, it felt so real! I reached over in the bed to find it empty. Half asleep, I waddled around the house, until I found him. “You left me!” I accused. He found the whole thing quite humorous. As I walked back to my room, I heard myself singing, “Here I go again on my own. Going down the only road I’ve ever known…”
Because of Covid-19…Songs in my head
When it hit me that life as I knew it was coming to a halt, I heard from my lips, “I want to be where the people are…” That’s the only line I know from the Little Mermaid song. It gave me such a laugh to find myself singing it.
Then later as I became more concerned about how the corona virus and the measures being taken were going to affect us, I heard myself singing a song I hadn’t heard or sung in years. This time it was the whole chorus I was singing. It’s amazing how my brain can pull up a song from my childhood and remember all the lyrics:
“Sigo confiando en Jesús mi Salvador;
Sigo confiando en Jesús, no tendré temor;
Si vienen pruebas y afán puedo cantar;
Sigo confiando en Jesús, nunca faltará.
Es amigo fiel, tan fiel para mí,
Me ayudará Hasta el fin.
Si vienen pruebas y afán puedo cantar;
Sigo confiando en Jesús, nunca faltará.”
The gist of the chorus is “I continue trusting in Jesus; He never fails!” It was such a comfort to my soul!
How about you? Do songs burst from you that you didn’t know you were singing too?
