Busy! It’s a word I hear so much these days. Every time I hear it or say it, in the back of my mind I inadvertently begin singing an old Veggie Tales song. Maybe you know it. “I’m busy, busy dreadfully busy. You’ve no idea what I have to do. Busy, busy shockingly busy. Much, much to busy for you.”
This song is my conscience! I then endeavor not to be too busy for my family, even though I may still be much, much too busy for other things that a multitude of people want me to, or think I should be doing. Sigh!
My busyness consists of being a wife and homemaker, homeschool teacher to all five of my kids, and running a business. I can’t remember the last time I felt like everything was done, much less done well, but I continue to work hard and strive to make wise choices with my time.
In the busyness of my days, food is one of the things I most look forward to in a day. Who’s with me? I enjoy cooking from scratch, but in this season of life, I have learned to save time by making use of many short cuts, without compromising flavor. I love highly flavored foods!

Rice, Beans, and Sausage is one of my favorite dishes! This week I saved hours of cooking time by using these BUSH’S® Southwestern Style Pinto Beans™ , available at Walmart!
What you need:
Caldo de Pollo Rice
2 (15.4 oz) cans of BUSH’S® Southwestern Style Pinto Beans™
1 pound fully cooked smoked sausage
This Quick and Easy family meal takes me less than 30 minutes! I make rice so often, that it’s crazy easy for me to make a batch of Caldo de Pollo Rice, but your favorite quick rice works great too.
Start the rice. Then slice and pan fry the sausage until it’s hot. I like to sear it a little. When the rice is almost ready, heat BUSH’S® Southwestern Style Pinto Beans™ in the microwave and serve! Just heat and eat!
Layer rice, beans, and sausage in your favorite dish, and enjoy!

If the first thing that came to your mind when you saw “BUSH’S” was baked beans, you are not alone. I love their Baked Beans! But BUSH’S is so much more. Maybe you didn’t know BUSH’S is the largest and leading branded bean company! Approximately 1 in 3 cans of beans sold in the US have a BUSH’S label on them.
You have to try BUSH’S Savory Beans! Made from the best beans simmered in delicious savory sauces, they come in three flavors:
- BUSH’S® Black Beans Fiesta™ (15.5 oz.)
- BUSH’S® Southwestern Style Pinto Beans™ (15.4 oz.)
- BUSH’S® Southern Style White Beans (15.3 oz.)

My daughter Grace was in the kitchen when I was preparing the meal. She was so excited to eat and kept talking about the beans while I cooked. She was the first of my family to try it and kept repeating, “You HAVE to buy more of these beans!” No joking y’all! I assured her, I had several more cans in the pantry. Now I want to go back to Walmart to try the other BUSH’S Savory flavors!

This looks delicious! I have never seen the southwestern beans here in NJ tho. I love Bush’s beans, and would probably love these too! They are the only baked beans we buy. The kids notice if I try another brand too!
They are so good! These are new. Look for them at Walmart on your next trip. Their Baked beans to rock. 🙂
