Our July 4th Family Dinner and Menu 2010

It has been a busy weekend with a birthday and family staying with us from out of town.  It hit me that July 4th is tomorrow and though I’ve thought about it a little, I never did nail down a great plan for a celebration.  I hope the creative juices are flowing today.  I looked back at what I made for our meal last year for inspiration.

The ever present family dinner picture with the ever absent wife/mom!

Is it strange that I always take a picture at our dinner celebrations?  I guess my family always did.

The Menu:

Hamburgers–purchased already seasoned

Watermelon

Baked Beans ala can–Jason’s favorite!

Onion rings–straight from the frozen section

Patriotic Pasta Salad

(I found flag shaped pasta and couldn’t resist.  I thought it was super fun.  The recipe I chose, however, was not any one’s favorite.  Of course it would be what I spent the most time making!)

Old Fashioned Dr. Pepper bottles

Strawberry Shakes for dessert

So there you have it!   Who said everything has to be homemade to be fun and festive?  That’s what I’ll be reminding myself come Thanksgiving and Christmas this year!

I’m linked to Making Your Home Sing Monday and Tuesdays at the Table.

Looks so yummy! I agree that not everything has to be homemade. Sometimes
you just need a little help and timesaving. 🙂

I appreciate how kids enjoy even the simplest things. Mine got a kick out of all of us wearing American flag t-shirts.

I love how you make such a big deal out of your celebrations! I bought some things to bring out for the Forth and then never did. I guess next year I’ll have to start ahead so we don’t forget.

We wound up just staying home and celebrating as a family. We went to an early movie and then came home and BBQ’d hamburgers. Then the kids went over to a friends for fireworks and hubby and I stayed home and enjoyed some peace and quiet!

Thanks for linking up to Making Your Home Sing Monday!
