Off to College

Faith Graduate

I’ve had a difficult time wanting to write about Faith’s graduation. This year 2020 did its thing! At first her graduation and senior play were postponed. We were ok with that. The new dates, however coincided with new shut downs in our area. In the end, it was all canceled, and we couldn’t even have a party at church or with extended family. Sniff!

We ended up having a little family dinner party, and that was that. I am thankful to have a photo of her taken early in the fall of 2019 when her fellow seniors gathered for a cap and gown fitting and sit down dinner. Hallelujah for that!

I can’t tell you how thankful I’ve been, that we took her senior trip last November when life was blissfully “normal.”

College Dorm

No matter that all else had gone wrong, I had an amazing trip planned to take her to college. I was determined, that the final send off would be a blast. This too was completely crashed. Would you believe that between us and her school threatened not one but two hurricanes on the exact days we had planned to travel?

We ended up rushing to leave early to try to miss the hurricanes. Thankfully, we timed it just right. Safety was most important in the ordeal, but my wonderful plans all blew away with the hurricane winds.

In any case, she made it to school in record time, (ha ha ha) and the good news is that she absolutely loves it. She is having the time of her life. There have definitely been adjustments and much stress, (mostly because of technical difficulties) but she is doing well in her classes and having fun. I suppose it’s a tale of all’s well that ends well, but my mother’s heart still laments the things she missed.

Wow ~ how did Faith grow up so fast?!?
I remember how heart-wrenching it felt when we moved our eldest into her college dorm ~ I cried all the way home!
But just like mine, your daughter will also do great. You’ve given Faith strong wings, deep roots and a firm foundation!! She’ll be able to confidently follow the path that God has planned for her life with the support of her college community, friends, and family!
