Our public library has a great summer reading program each year. Every child that reads forty hours or more is invited to the Super Reader Party where the mayor himself gives out medals to all the super readers. After receiving the awards they are treated to cake and punch. My kids look forward to it every year.
My Faith, Joy, Grace and Little Jason all received medals! This year the library gave out an extra award to the top readers. They have never done that before. When Faith’s name was called they announced that she was the 9th top reader in the city. She was given a gift card for the local theater! She is so excited!
The summer reading programs are a big part of our summers. We spend so much time looking forward to them and so much time checking out and reading books, that I can’t believe it’s all over and a new school year is beginning.
