How To Choose A Husband

When my eldest daughter Faith was only six she asked me, “Mom what do you want to be when you’re forty-eight?”

Without putting much thought into it, obviously, I said, “Well, maybe when I’m forty-eight you’ll be married and have a baby.”

Silence.  Finally she said, “Mom, who will I marry?”

“I don’t know honey.”

“Can I marry Daddy?”

“Sorry, I got him first.”

Silence.  Then she said, “Who will I marry then Mommy?”

I said, “Well, you need to marry someone who loves God.  That’s all that really matters.  If he truly loves God, he’ll be a good husband.”

“I think I’ll marry Jacob.”

“Does Jacob love God?”

“I don’t know.  I’ll ask him.”

And that was the end of the conversation, until a week later.  As I was clearing the breakfast dishes she came up to the counter and said, “I’m going to marry Jacob.”

“Why honey?”

“Because he loves God.”

“How do you know?”

“Because I asked him.”

So there you have it.   How to choose a husband in two easy steps!

Yes if it were only that easy. It took me 3 times to get it right and then somedays I still wonder LOL!

What a darling thing for your daughter to say and perhaps if I heeded those words and advice there would not have been 3!

    Amen!

I hope when she finally does find the right guy she asks him that question! Great lesson to learn at an early age!
