I was lugging in a trunk load of groceries. The kids had been so well behaved on this occasion that my mind was elsewhere. On our first trip into the house with our bags, Grace ran ahead and hid by the door. This is the usual game we play. She jumped out and said, “Raaaa!” I hardly noticed.
“Mom, say ‘arghhhh.’”
Still on auto pilot, with no idea what I was saying, I responded, “Ah,” in the most monotone voice you can imagine.
I didn’t wake up from my reverie until she said, very put out, “Next time say, ‘You scared me!’”

Very cute 🙂
Oh the games we play. 🙂
Children expect the same responses for a long time, but we are the ones who get caught when the day suddenly arrives that the child is bored or less impressed with the ritual.
So .. keep up mom! 😉
🙂 Both my kids love playing that game. They are constantly hiding just around the corner and saying I’m gonna scare you. When I walk around they jump out and scream at me and expect me to jump and act scared.
Been there done that. It’ll end way sooner than you want it to.
Aww! Poor little thing! She missed scaring the wits out of her mother, even if it was just play! <3 So cute!
