One of my favorite things about fall is all the fairs and festivals, and I love that so many of them are free. When I was in college, the church I attended had pot luck suppers every now and then. Every single time I walked in for the fellowship meal the pastor would loudly proclaim, “Here come the college students for the free food!” It didn’t matter that I was there three times a week, every week, if there was food, he assumed that’s why I was there. It used to really irk me! It makes me laugh because the truth is that now if I hear there is free food anywhere I do my best to get there! The police department in our neighborhood does a Pet Fair every year that is free to the public. I love to take the kids. They get to see all the kittens and dogs that need to be adopted. My kids just love animals. Vendors promote their animal products and businesses. And there is always free stuff! The grilled hotdogs and hamburgers were yummy. It was a fun little picnic in the grass!
Free popcorn and snow-cones made the kids smile too! There was even free face painting, though Jason was tired and ready to go home, especially when he saw the line of kids waiting.
I hope lots of those cute animals found new homes. My kids were dying to get one, but their mean mama was firm. One sweet doggy is enough right now!
What free fairs are going on where you live? Are you taking advantage of them too?

There is just something so nice about walking around a Fall fair. Warm sweatshirt, good food, and time spent with family. A total win-win situation!
