Since our fifth child Bobby was born we have had a tough time getting our game nights in like we used to. We’ve been missing them, so I decided to bring family game nights back with a party! We went to Sam’s Club in search of our party food.
I have always loved appetizers. When others are ordering steak and pasta, many times I’m ordering bruschetta, spinach artichoke dip, or nachos. Appetizers seem to me so much more flavorful. So when I heard about Daily Chef Bruschetta, I thought it would be the perfect main dish for our party. I also found a vegetable medley and humus, apples and caramel dip, and the kids also talked me into hot chocolate. In Texas if they have to pull out a long sleeved shirt they think it’s time for hot chocolate!
In a flash I was able to put together a yummy fun meal for us to enjoy! There was no need to even pull out a recipe!
We loved the Chicken and Bacon Bruschetta Sam’s Club! The girls even fought over the last one! I bet you can’t imagine that though can you. 😉
When we finished eating we got right to our game playing. Yep. It’s hard to play with seven people of multiple age ranges! We managed to make it through several rounds of UNO. Then we tried Go Fish but found there weren’t enough cards to go around. We finally ended up playing Sorry on the Wii were there were no cards or game pieces that the little ones could mess up and they could play happily on the floor while everyone else played the game.
It was a fun evening, but I think we’ll need to put the littles to bed some time soon and just play some board games with the older two. What games work for your family game nights?

It looks likeBobby is trying to help Jason pick his card. So cute!
How nice to have family nights. They are so precious! I just love your pics Esther!
Hooray for family game nights!!
We LOVED playing games with our kids as they grew up…and we still do as adults.
We played games like Memory, Candy Land, Chutes & Ladders, Sorry, Checkers, Chinese Checkers, Uno, Go Fish, War, Kings in the Corner, Trivial Pursuit, Monopoly, Sequence, and Charades.
Now we enjoy playing Hand & Foot, Apples to Apples, Settlers of Catan, and Scrabble….but mostly Hand & Foot.
We play Uno and Sorry also, with clue and monopoly in the mix. Favorite games include Buzz Jr. Robo Jam and Jungle Buzz for our PS2, Guiness Book of World Records for the Wii, Rummy and Baloney (card games), Cranium family edition, and a board game called Outta Control. Outta Control is a “vintage” game (it came out in the 90’s), that I bought off of the internet. If you could find yourself a complete set, I guarantee your family would have a blast!
We are huge fans of Candyland around here…we also bought some new board games for the kids’ Christmas. Excited to play more as the winter weather settles in here in TN 🙂
Great post! Family time is so important! I love your BIG family!!! So fun! Your game night looked like a success! YUMMY food too!
