Last year we were traveling for Thanksgiving, but I still wanted to have a fall dinner so I decided to have a family fall festival. I cooked all day while the kids planned activities and games in their rooms.
The Menu: pork roast, sweet potatoes, sweet corn, caramel fondue with fruit dippers, zucchini bread with cinnamon butter, Autumn salad with maple cider vinaigrette, apple cider, and pumpkin pie with real whipped cream. I went overboard on the sweet menu, but the kids didn’t complain! 🙂
After supper we went upstairs for the Festival they had worked on all day! I was impressed with all the games they came up with on their own. This was musical “chairs.”
A few activities they came up with:
Who ever pulls out a blue lego with out looking wins.
Faith read a pumpkin story to everyone.
Joy prepared a puppet show.
Smash the legos game.
Basketball.
Bean bag toss.
We had such a good time all day. The kids keep asking me if we’re going to do this again this year. I think we’re staying home for Thanksgiving. Maybe we’ll do it on Thanksgiving Day! We’ll see!

Thank you! We all worked hard and then enjoyed the fruits of our labor! 🙂
Oh, I love it. That menu is making my mouth water!
This post really gets me in the mood for fall. Hip hip hooray!
Smash the Legos game? Whatever it is, my boys would love that! LOL
I love that everyone planned something! Your meal sounds awesome.
Mmm… zucchini bread with cinnamon butter! I think I know how I’ll be “stepping up” my next batch of pumpkin muffins 🙂
Love it. Thanks for sharing.
Great the kids got involved in planning the activities.
Sounds awesome. I love the festive dishes too. Thanks for linking up with us. 🙂
