Curious Compliments

We got to go on a rare date last weekend because my sister called and invited the kids over.  Over our nice, quiet, slow meal, we started talking about Facebook and the friends that I’ve been able to get in contact with these last few years.  This reminded me of something I’ve been thinking about recently that I find really curious, and I told my husband about it.  Almost everyone that I have met or talked to that has been in contact with an old boyfriend of mine (there weren’t that many) has made a specific point to tell me how gorgeous that ex-boyfriend’s wife is.  Now don’t get me wrong here, I am very happy for them.  In fact, I hope they are not only gorgeous but godly too–a killer combination!  But I just find it curious that so many different people over the last fifteen years or so have done that.

So Jason started asking me questions about some of those guys.  After a little while he just sat there shaking his head.

“What’s the matter?” I asked.

“Unbelievable,” he said.

“What?” I asked again.

“That that many guys could have possibly been that stupid!”

I laughed!

“The only explanation,” he said, “Is that God saved you for me.”

I tell you what, after fourteen years of marriage, I can live on that compliment for a very, very long time!

Esther
