Early Christmas gifts for Daddy
It has been our tradition to open a gift or two when we decorate our Christmas tree. We make it a party. It’s a little different every year. This time the kids and I were so excited to give their dad these Big Dog shirts. I knew Jason would love this hoodie, of course I was right! 😉 It’s just so beautiful and speaks to my USA loving man.
It would just be wrong not to have a little fun too right? This was our #1 Dad funny shirt pick. “I never argue: I just Explain Why I’m Right!” My stoic engineer man actually laughed out loud the first moment he saw it. It’s so fun to find that perfect gift for someone, when you know it’s so THEM, even when it’s just fun and humorous like this one.
Surprise gift for Grandpa
We also gave out another Big Dogs gift. Joy has been spending about two days a week helping at my parents home with whatever they may need. Dad has been very sick this year, and it’s also taken a toll on Mom. Joy absolutely loves spending time with them, and she is happy to help. This does my heart so much good!
We HAD to get my dad an early Big Dogs Christmas present. We thought of his love for our country too and got him the American Brand shirt. He’s been having some tough days with lots of pain. It was great to surprise him in this small way.
Christmas family getaway to South Padre Island, Texas
Soon after our whirlwind week of decorating for Christmas we left for a winter getaway to South Padre Island. Would you believe the only two shirts my husband took on the trip were his new Big Dogs Shirts? I can’t make these things up y’all! He LOVES them!
Winter on South Padre Island is highly underrated. The temperature is generally warm and sunny; there are low crowds, and prices on lodging are fantastic!
We thoroughly enjoyed our time on the beach, swimming, playing games in the condo, eating lots of fun food, and generally just resting!
Though it’s warm during the day, in the evening breeze it can get a bit chilly so my husband brought the perfect wardrobe for a winter weekend at the beach. One of the highlights was walking to Gabriella’s, one of out favorite places to eat on the Island.
A family winter getaway is a great way to spend time together and get into the Christmas spirit. I highly recommend it, even if you staycation!
