We were so excited to finally make it to the Ark Encounter in Williamstown, Kentucky. In fact, the Creation Museum had long been on our family’s bucket list, but when we heard the Ark Encounter was underway, we waited to visit until we could experience both. The Ark Encounter graciously provided us with two media tickets. As always all opinions are my own.

From Bible story books to hearing and reading the Biblical account of Noah’s Ark all my life, it’s something I’ve imagined, and loved to ponder. What was it really like?
What to expect when you arrive.
When you reach the parking lot of the Ark Encounter, you are still far from the site. You will purchase your tickets first, and then board a bus that takes you on a short ride up to the site.

The Ark Encounter is a life-size replica of Noah’s Ark, and is built to the specifications listed in the Bible. It’s incredible to stand from afar and gaze on the structure. It’s 510 feet long, 85 feet wide, and 51 feet high!

How did all the animals fit? How did Noah take care of and feed the animals? The Ark Encounter seeks to answer many of your questions. This amazing Ark replica has three decks filled with exhibits to aid your imagination as you think about what it may have been like to live aboard the Ark.

We spent about two hours walking the floors of the ark, looking at the exhibits, animals, and video clips. My husband would have spent longer. Insert smile here.
The Ark is not actually made to float. I found that interesting; so I suppose in the event of a flood, we’ll have to look for an alternative, but thankfully God has promised us no more worldwide floods! Woo hoo!

Emzara’s Buffet
When you visit the Ark Encounter definitely plan to eat at Emzara’s Buffet. This was recommended to me in anticipation of our trip, and I’m so glad we feasted at Emzara’s.

Prices are $14.99 for adults and $6.99 for children ages 5-12. With a large family we try to avoid buffets since we can’t share meals, and we end up paying much for four our dinner, but Emzara’s Buffet was a happy splurge. With many American favorites like fried chicken and all the fixings, salad bar, and our favorite…the dessert bar. It was delicious and fun for all.

Ararat Ridge Zoo
As usual my littles have the most fun getting to interact with some real, live animals. For an additional fee you can even ride the camels!

We loved the Ark Encounter! In fact, we enjoyed it even more than the Creation Museum! The immersive experience of seeing and walking in a life size Noah’s Ark was fascinating.
If you have time, there is much more to do at the Ark Encounter. Extreme Zip lines, Fossil Finds, and events –Head over to the Ark Encounter website to plan your trip.
