A Very Frightening Moment in Time

This was three years ago when my four-year-old was only one.  I was homeschooling my oldest at the kitchen table while my baby was playing happily behind me.  All of the sudden my baby started crying.  I turned around and my hand went to my mouth as I stood up.  I could not figure out where all that blood was coming from.  That’s when I saw it, the little jar of finger paint.

Very scary! Glad you took the picture to show her when she gets older–maybe when she has kids that get into things.

Oh my goodness, that is one very scary sight. I’m so glad it turned out to be paint, but I just can’t even imagine how your heart must have been racing.

Oh my, that is very freaky! We had an incident with ketchup once, but it certainly was not that dramatic!

I can only imagine the set of circumstances in the right sequence of events that would bring about such an internal hodgepodge of emotions almost instantaneously. Good job of not dying of a heart attack on the spot!

OH MY GOODNESS! That was funny ONCE I knew that baby was OK! That picture is “skeery” at first! I thought maybe a nose bleed ‘cuz my son gets those and they can be pretty bad if we don’t stop it quickly.

Not to be gross…well, OK, it will be gross…my arm looked like that in ER on Tuesday night. The nurse took blood and was trying to set me up for an IV port when blood suddenly shot everywhere – all down my arm, on the towel, on the sheet, the bed bars, and the floor! I didn’t realize she had done anything “wrong” and said, “Oh, we have a bleeder!” She said, “No, it was my fault!” LOL! Blood doesn’t bother me, but my daughter would have had a COW! (For the record, I was in ER with kidney and bladder pain, plus I had been sick with vomiting/diarrhea.) Yep, kidney stone! Don’t know if it passed yet, but I have a follow-up with urology and two prescriptions to keep me sane (or is it insane?) while I’m waiting.

Well, the site of the blood didn’t bother me, but I did want it cleaned up reasonably well. It was driving the nurse crazy though. She tried to clean up with small gauze pads and that wasn’t enough, so she had to get a wet rag. Later on, she came back in to put the IV fluids in, saw my arm, and got another wash rag to clean me up AGAIN! LOL! She kept saying, “It looks like a crime scene!” Despite my predicament, I found it rather amusing!

Oh my! Yes, that would scare me too!

My oldest broke a water globe when she was about that age. I came into the room to find her sitting in a pile of glass and water. I can not tell you how carefully I checked her over, and more than one time, before I plucked her into the tub to rinse any glass shards off.
