Today is my daughter Faith’s tenth birthday! As she excitedly anticipated the day she decided to write about what happened on her birthday last year. Her story brought tears to my eyes. Happy Birthday Faith!
My birthday was on Sunday. I got up right away and everyone said, “Happy Birthday.” So I got dressed and went to church. I told everyone it was my birthday. The class wished me, “Happy Birthday” too. I had fun at church.
At nap time I read books. After nap time we went to the Classical Conversations picnic. The food was delicious. After I ate, I went to play. I met someone with silly bands. I asked her if she wanted to trade. She did so we traded silly bands until it was time to go. When I was leaving she said, “Wait. Do you want to be best friends?”
I said, “Yes.” I told her good-bye and went home.
At home we had cheese cake. My sisters gave me presents and my mom and dad gave me a scooter and an Incredibles Leapster game. I read a little bit and then turned off the light and thought. Suddenly I realized that God had given me a present too–a best friend!
