Yesterday we took the family to the ICR (or Institute for Christian Research) Your Origins Matter Conference in downtown Dallas.
As we walked up to the church someone yelled, “Are you trying to start your own basketball team?” Then when we walked inside there were several more comments about our “big” family. Jason loves it. His new favorite show is 19 Kids and Counting. He keeps saying if only we were younger… Still, so many families we know have so many more kids than we do that we just feel average. I digress.
I wondered how the kids would last for the whole day. Thankfully, there was a nursery for the younger three kids. The older two sat through the entire conference and even took some notes and drew relevant pictures.
We learned about how astronomy reveals creation, the significance of biology, why God’s image Matters, and also enjoyed photographs taken from space by astronaut Col. Jeffery Williams. I told my girls to pay attention. This was homeschool science. My oldest really enjoyed it and learned a lot. It was challenging for Joy to sit through the entire thing, but she did pretty well. What a great family day! We hope to go again next year.

What a fabulous way to instill a Biblical worldview in your children, Esther! So glad all of you were able to attend the conference = )
Don’t you love going out as a “big” family? We’re also not the biggest family in our community – in fact, there are plenty with upwards of 10 kids and more.
Still, I do think kids are important, and am proud of mine.
It sounds really interesting and I’m glad the kids enjoyed it andlet you enjoy it. I was just thinking again today how the creation story isn’t just in Genesis–it is mentioned throughout the Bible. When someone wants to tell what God they serve, they say the one who created the earth and everything in it.
Oh I LOVE the Institute for Creation Research!! Yay for you Esther!! As far as your big beautiful family..well their beautiful! LOL
Blessings xxxooo
What a great outing for the family!
What a beautiful family you have. Homeschool families are some of our greatest supporters. Thanks for coming to our conference. I trust it was beneficial to you. Please let us know how we can improve future conferences and how we can serve you better.
P. Rogers
@Paul Rogers Thank you so much! It was a wonderful family day and we are still discussing the things we learned.
I love it! The whole family there, how fun. I’m from Utah, and most families here are large. Nothing wrong with that – just that much more loving to go around. Sounds like you had a great day.
