The Woodshed Smokehouse in Fort Worth, Texas is a MUST! My husband Jason gave me gift cards quite some time ago. It was supposed to be a date night, but Fort Worth is a bit of a drive from our house, and when I thought of a special date night BBQ wasn’t the cuisine that came to mind. So one day we just decided to take the whole family and go. How I wished I had left the kids home. Ha ha. And it’s not because they didn’t love it, but there would have been more for me!
The Woodshed Smokehouse is located downtown on the river. The atmosphere is rustic and very inviting. I loved the live music and fires going outside though it was a bit chilly on this night to eat outside. We arrived about 5:30 on a Saturday evening and had to wait over half an hour for a table. This is a very happening place!
The prices are very reasonable, but keep in mind everything is a la cart.
I have heard much about the famed Chef Tim Love restaurants, and I was not disappointed. In fact, with every bite I just couldn’t believe how incredibly good the food was. This might be American food, but there’s nothing “plain ‘ol” about it. It’s mouthwatering delicious! We decided to get a sampling of lots of the food on the menu and share it family style. I loved that that was okay.
The kids all fought for the burger so I let them have it. It was the one thing I didn’t try. All of them swear it is the best burger they have ever had, and we eat a lot of Texas burgers let me tell you. I regretted not trying a bite–next time! The Borracho Beans are to die for. I let a couple people try a bite and then I finished them off myself. Seriously, I’d go back just for the beans!
The Woodshed Smokehouse is known for it’s ribs and brisket. The way we dove into this food, well, I should be ashamed, but curiously…I’m not! ๐ Everything at The Woodshed is made from scratch including the sauces and believe me you can taste the difference.
We tried a variety of sides with our tacos and meats. Mexican corn? I couldn’t pass that up. The baked potato was good too, but wow the Mexican corn….I’m running out of adjectives…amazing!
Forgive this blurry photo. I was making the kids wait to eat until I grabbed photos with my phone and the surprising thing is that more of them didn’t turn out like this, but I HAD to tell you about the Crispy Potatoes with Smoked Garlic Aioli. These, of course, are hand made and the dipping sauces are so tasty too. I love unique foods and this is such a fun way to do potatoes! They also have hand made chips, that I can’t wait to try.
The kids got just a little out of sorts as we ended up waiting longer than expected to eat, but that all ended when the food arrived. They are all still talking about the experience and unfortunately for them…I think I’ll leave them home next time. ๐
Since this had been meant as a special date night for me, Jason surprised us by ordering dessert. The berry cobbler ala mode (I can’t remember the official name.) and the Chocolate Pie were as finger licking good as the rest of the food.
The real challenge at The Woodshed Smokehouse would be to find something that isn’t amazing. I dare you to try! ๐ Whether you are local or will be visiting the Fort Worth area, make plans to dine at The Woodshed Smokehouse. Go hungry!
