Tooting and Tutoring

I was tutoring my class of nine and ten year olds at the Classical Conversations Community (For an explanation of what this is click here.), and it was time for the lesson on the Tin Whistle.  I was at first very intimidated at the idea of teaching this, but quickly found that the instructions were very easy to follow, and although it may take talent and practice to play the Tin Whistle well, the basics are pretty simple.

I asked the class to take out their instruments.  One child asked, β€œIs it okay if we toot on them now?”  This brought on an onslaught of laughter.

I told them to please refrain from playing the whistles until I finished giving the instructions.

β€œWell, you are the tooootor!” came the clever reply.

That class sounds like fun! Do your kids have a class in tin whistle, and do they have to practice at home?
