More from my niece Skylar Ashley flew in to stay with our children while we were to be gone on an Alaskan cruise. She was kind enough to send me some stories to share with you. Her first day she had quite the scare. Day 2 she was terrorized by two small boys. This next story I found quite hilarious and yes, I am a huge Nacho Libre fan. It’s right behind Napoleon Dynamite. True classics that I can watch and laugh over and over! Enjoy her words below:
Friday was a blast. I’d been real strict about bed times the first two days, but who doesn’t stay up on Friday, right? The kids had spent all day playing a new video game, taking turns playing with and against each other. We’d given Bobby a remote, and he spent hours pressing buttons and waving it around. Every time a battle ended, he’d run up to me and shout “I beat you!!” The remote had no batteries, but he never noticed.
That night, I wanted to do something fun with everyone. I remembered Aunt Esther mentioning how much the kids liked the movie Nacho Libre. When the girls heard I hadn’t watched it they immediately put it on. Bobby was asleep in my arms by the time they found the movie, but as soon as the intro music started he was sitting up shouting “I wanna watch it!!”
Halfway through the movie, my mom texted me. The regular mom stuff. How are you? How are the kids? What did you do today? The conversation went a little something like:
Mom: Hey sweetie. How are you? Hare are the kids? What are you doing?
Me: We’re all good, watching Nacho Libre. Aunt Esther said it’s their favorite.
Mom: Oh my goodness!!! That movie is so bad!!!
Me: Oh no, really? Bad how? They’ve seen it twice…
Mom: Just bad, but I remember they have Clearplay so it’s okay =)
Me: We aren’t using Clearplay….
Mom: Oh no!!!!
It tickled me so much, I started laughing right in the middle of a rare sad part! After a very long conversation with Aunt Esther about the kinds of movies I could and couldn’t watch with the kids, the one they all liked the best was the one movie MY mom didn’t approve of! We all had a good laugh about that. =)

I can understand why your mom was shocked. I watched it at someone’s house who has whatever it is that takes the bad words out. It came on television later and I started to watch it again but just watched a little and decided against it. It is definitely hilarious, but it must not be as funny for people who haven’t lived in Mexico or don’t understand Spanish.
Mom, there is no bad language in the movie unless you’re offended by “dang.” 🙂
