I read somewhere that men want to be told that they have big muscles. I hadn’t really thought much about it, as whether or not my man has big muscles has never mattered to me at all. I made a mental note to remember to comment on said big muscles. It was about then that I noticed my daughter Joy calling her dad, “You big huge honkin’ Daddy!” with much affection.
“So THAT’S why you want so many children.” I winked at him over supper, and we laughed.
Unfortunately, the same kind of comments hasn’t worked out well for me. Little Jason crawled in my lap, pointed to my belly and said, “You fat Mama.”
I laughed and then stopped short. My first thought was, “Please, oh please, don’t let him say that to anyone else.” But of course he will, so my next thought was, “When he says this to someone else, please, oh please let them be kind and forgiving!” Oh, the joys of being a parent!

My kids call me fat too, when I’m pregnant. And then after the baby this time, they asked, “Why is your belly still so huge?”
Oh gosh, you’re tiny for 30 weeks and look beautiful! 🙂
Lookin’ good, Mama!
You look great for baby #5. What did you expect? Did anyone ever tell you that most women get a little bigger for each one?
This from Hal: I can’t believe the picture I saw today on your blog. That woman looked like a college girl 9 months ago. We are praying for your health and the baby’s health and for all the needs of the family. HFT
You make being pregnant look easy. WOW!!! 30 weeks and number 5. Great job, Esther… all that sopa must be good for pregnant mommies 😀
You look so cute! That’s one thing I regret: not having taken very many pictures of my pregnant bellies. I think there were 2 pregnancies where I can’t find ANY pictures of the pregnancy! (sniff)
Ah kids… No filter to what they say!
u look lovely, ur blog is definitely inspiring me to have kids.
What a cute baby bump!! Yes, Little Jason will say it sometime 🙂
I think you look wonderful!
Ha! I’m sure I’ll be hearing many a comment like this from my son once he has more words in his vocabulary 🙂
u look awesome!! 🙂 i am waiting for the day that my son tells someone we see smoking “you are stupid”… all b/c of how i explained cigarettes… “smoking is stupid and hurts you so never do it”… now i live in fear of him blurting that out someday… i know how u feel! (i also HATE it when he calls me his “big mama” but thats because i AM big…) lol
Your blog puts a smile on my face every time I read it! You have a beautiful family and you look great!
Sooo cute! I wish I had looked as good as you when I was 30 weeks. Sigh!
lol…too cute! A few months ago, I was watching the 2-year old daughter of a friend I hadn’t seen for a while. When she picked up her daughter, Kaia asked the lady, “Are you pregnant?” I just about died. When she nicely laughed it off, Kaia came back with, “Oh. I just wondered because of your tummy.” !!!
you look SUPER cute!!! hope you are feeling well too! and don’t ya just love kids? and no way are you fat. kids just associate bigness and fatness so a baby belly to a kid means fat:) i heard that last year plenty when i was prego with number 4! always lovely to hear…. 🙂
At least they didn’t tell you that you need to stop eating so much!
No matter how much you explain to kids, they take in only what they’re ready to hear…
What’s wrong with being fat?
