You first met Charity Hawkins when she shared with us If You Give a Mom a Recipe for Potato Soup and then later she also shared a post about her Super Kids with us.
When Charity contacted me about doing a review and giveaway of her novel The Homeschool Experiment, I was thrilled.
This is the story of Julianne Miller, a character who I have a very hard time believing is fictitious. She and I have so much in common, I’m sure we’d be best friends!
Julianne feels like God is calling her to homeschool, but she has no idea what she is doing. The story takes her from the overwhelming feeling of her first homeschool book fair to the completion of her first year.
I loved this book. It is so real. Change a few details here and there and this is my homeschool experience! Which curriculum to use? How do I deal with family and friends that think I’m crazy? How do I get all the things done in a day without going nuts? Julianne wrestles with these questions and many more.
Whether you homeschool or not, I think you will enjoy this humorous and encouraging story about one mom’s homeschool journey.
Charity Hawkins has very graciously offered a copy for me to give away! Please enter below. When the giveaway closes I will email the winner, who will have 24 hours to send me a name and address. The winner will have the opportunity to choose a hard copy, Kindle or Nook format.

I have homeschooled for 9 years, our youngest is 2 so we have many more years.
How much does the book sell for? I won’t enter for the free book. I’d like to know where to get a copy on Kindle. I did a limited amount of homeschooling, enough to be able to relate. It sounds like a good read.
I do “after schooling” now. I am looking into homeschooling fulltime!
My little ones aren’t quite school age. I have entertained the idea of home schooling versus public school. Either way, this looks like a fun read.

I homeschool. We are on our 2nd year, as of August 1st.
We’ve been homeschooling since the kids were old enough to start learning. We aren’t planning on stopping anytime soon.
We have been homeschooling for six years. Wow! I didn’t realize that it had been that long!
Sounds like a great book, Esther! We’re about to start our 10th year of homeschooling. 🙂
Frieda you can get it on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Homeschool-Experiment-Novel-Charity-Hawkins/dp/1937639061/ref=sr_1_sc_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1344746530&sr=8-1-spell&keywords=the+home+school+experiment+a+novel 🙂
I would LOVE to win this! We are about half way through with our first year of homeschooling and I am loving is so far (well most of it).
Vanessa
I just had to share this with a friend who is getting ready to start homeschooling. Looks like a great book. BTW, have you ever read any of the Yada Yada books? They are christian fiction as well. http://makingourlifematter.com/book-reviewyada-yada-prayer-group-by-neta-jackson/ Totally OT, sorry. 🙂
We are going to start our second year. I only have 24 years to go until my newborn graduates!
We are starting our 16th year of homeschooling! My children are 20, 18, (These two have graduated from our homeschool.) 8, 3 year old twins and a four month old. I am looking forward to many more years of homeschooling! :0)
I really enjoy your blog and look forward to seeing what humorous things have happened at your house.
Thanks for a chance to enter to win this book!
Your always a blessing.
Hugs,
Cricket
This looks like a great story! Right now I think that homeschooling would be a great option for us – hubby thinks not so much…but I’d love to read about someone else’s experience – especially since it hit so close to your real life experience, Esther! Thanks for sharing!
Yes, this is our first official year.
I homeschool, we’ve been homeschooling since day one basically 😉
I haven’t officially begun to homeschool, yet. Though, I do teach my son different things here and there as we go through daily life anyways. We will start Bible “Class” next month and then next year, I’ll throw myself, full-force, into something more structured… Lord willing!

This will be our third year.
We are starting our third year of schooling at home and love it! I would love to win this book! Thanks!
I don’t homeschool right now, but I am seriously considering it.
Yike, sorry guys, I’m late on joining in on the discussion! Vanessa, thank you for sharing the link to order. Yes, you can get Kindle on Amazon and Nook on Barnes and NOble, or paperback from Amazon, CBD.com, or Mardel online. Thanks everyone so much for entering. For those of you just starting out or considering homeschooling, there are resources in the back for further exploration. Have fun and enjoy your little ones!
