I was in the bathroom when I spied a black spider crawling my way. I just watched it for a minute. It kept coming. Then it hit me that I needed to move or it was going to be on me. I grabbed a paper and started furiously shaking it at the spider. It jumped about six inches off the ground and then landed upside down on the ground unmoving. I shook the paper some more, but the spider didn’t move. It was playing dead! I couldn’t believe it.
I went out into the living room to get the kids. What a great teaching moment! “Kids! There’s a spider in the bathroom that just played dead!” I was quite excited.
“Yeah we know that,” my daughter was unmoved.
“I didn’t know that. How you did you know that?” I demanded.
“We learned it in school.”
“Uh…”

Oh my, I wouldn’t be able to move until I was sure the spider was actually DEAD….not just “playing” dead.
I wouldn’t just shake the paper at it, I’d stomp on that thing….survival of the fittest!!
Hahahaa! Now THAT’S too funny! And I’m sure she walked out of the room as if it was no big deal, right? Kids, you gotta love em’! 😉
