Gone fishing. How the kids love to fish! It was another item to cross off my bucket list of things I want to do with the kids this summer. It was bittersweet to leave our family in Minnesota. We were sad to leave but excited to see our family in Nebraska. We spent three days with Jason’s parents visiting family and friends.
Jason’s cousin Corie graciously threw together a lakeside get together with just a couple of hours notice so that we could all get together. It was so much fun to see everyone!
The kids have wonderful memories from the last time we were there and were hoping to get to go fishing. They weren’t disappointed. Funny how these very impatient children of mine will sit there by the hour hoping to catch a fish!
Grace had the magic touch on this night and caught four or five fish. Joy was also so excited to finally catch a fish. Poor Faith sat there for what seemed like hours and never got a bite. She insists she had fun anyway though.
Then for the second time in a week we roasted marshmallows and had smores! We were living it up I tell ya! They even brought out the Karaoke later in the evening. My girls had a blast. It was so fun. I’ve never done Karaoke. It always looks like a blast. I wish I had the confidence to go up and make a fool of myself, because that’s what I would do if I went up there, sing off key and make a show of it. Ha ha. Maybe some day…
We had a wonderful time with Jason’s family. His parents took the kids put-put golfing, swimming, and bowling. Jason and I even got a date in! Woo hoo. We are back home now and spending our summer…homeschooling, but I’m sure we’ll find time to do plenty of fun things outside before the summer is over!

Looks like you had a wonderful time reconnecting and making new memories. One of the best things about summer. 🙂
