The last several years we have enjoyed visiting a nearby Baptist church’s summer reading club. Once a week the kids enjoy being read to, a short video, activity, craft, and snack. My kids look forward to the club each week through the summer.
My boys especially enjoyed playing with the parachute after sitting still for story and craft time.
This week was the end of summer pizza party. End of summer? Already? May it not be!
But who doesn’t enjoy a pizza party?
And then began the awards. Grace and Faith each got the top reader in their age group. A library book was donated in their name and placed on the shelves in the library! Their name is just inside the front cover!
Medals were given for the top readers over all. Joy was so excited to receive a medal for third place! Faith was the top reader, having read more pages than everyone else. She really is a super reader! I have a tough time keeping her in books!
And this is what Bobby was doing while the girls got their awards! He’s picking on the girls already! Ha ha!
Though we have been doing as much reading as possible and completing a math lesson whenever we are home for the day, I still do not feel ready to get back into the full scale school schedule. Thankfully, we have a few weeks and a vacation left before we hit the books hard again!

I am having trouble believing the summer is coming to an end, too! August already?? no!!!
I’m not into the beginning of August being the end of summer. What the what??? When I was in school we started a couple days before Labor Day and ended right before Memorial Day. Every year. Same thing. And we turned out okay! (for the most part LOL)
Reading + pizza= great combination.
I am not ready for this school year to start, my oldest is starting high school this year.
