We have taken to spelling things. Now it’s tough to hide what we’re talking about from our oldest two of course, but we can get sneaky and add letters in strange places to buy us a little time at least! Trying to spell ice-cream never works so we’ve progressed to spelling “frozen stuff” when we remember in time. It seems we always end up spelling the same things though so they have wizened up!
Jason and I laughed that now the older two are beginning to spell things too. When Faith had finished her supper she asked if she and Joy could go play, “W-I-I,” while the younger two finished eating. We let them go play.
Jason finished his food and left to join in the games. Pretty soon only Grace and Little Jason were left still eating their food. I over heard Grace ask, “Well, Little Jason, shall we go G-S-P?”

I love when my little girl tries to spell things out – she usually does it after I spell something to my husband. Sometimes I wonder if she thinks that’s just how grownups speak.
We spell too. For ice cream we just spell I C E C, we know what it means:)
I never think to spell things!
We got so we spelled everything. Our kids turned out to be better spellers than their parents. Then they grew up. And had little ones. For a while, we adults were all back to spelling. Now the grandkids are way ahead. Sigh. Let me know if you find something that works!!!
We have to spell in front of the D-O-G, does that count?
I stopped spelling things back when my kids were toddlers and could figure it out. LOL
