I told you recently about our family’s teeth trouble and how I was especially concerned about my daughter’s infected tooth. She was on a round of antibiotics on our vacation to help keep her comfortable and in hopes of healing the tooth.
Faith is twelve now and it didn’t hit me quite so hard about her growing up until our vacation to Branson. At most of the attractions and restaurants she was considered and adult! Well that of course means that I have to pay more, but she really is more interested in grown up things and less in childish things. Sniff. I wanted to encourage her as I know she is concerned about her tooth too. The dentist kind of freaked out on us which didn’t help. So I purchased a Sonicare PowerUp Toothbrush for her. Getting something new is always fun and I figured a better toothbrush would also help her take care of her teeth. We want to keep as many as we can!
When we got back from our trip, I made a quick trip to Walmart to find a Soinicare PowerUp Toothbrush for her. This is a brand new, affordable battery powered toothbrush for under $20. I’m always looking for a great deal! To read about my entire shop please check out my Google + album!
I brought home the Sonicare PowerUp toothbrush and gave it to her. She began using it right away. At first she didn’t like the tickle that she felt. She’s been using a manual toothbrush. I felt the exact same way when I switched to a battery powered toothbrush, and I assured her that she would get used to it. In just a week she already says that the tickle doesn’t bother her anymore! Using the Sonicare PowerUp toothbrush is “Like getting a month’s worth of strokes in a day!”
My husband has been repeatedly telling our children to “Brush two minutes morning and night.” He has said it over and over. I was so excited to find out that when the toothbrush is turned on it automatically shuts off after two minutes! How fun is that!
Faith has been loving her new toothbrush! I took her back to her dentist this week. The tooth is still infected though it looked a little better. She has been referred to an endodontist. Our appointment is this morning so we would appreciate your prayers on any decisions that need to be made!

Us parents use an electric toothbrush and want our kids to use it too! Such a better clean and love that it stays on for two minutes!! Good luck with her appt tomorrow. 🙂
I love that the Sonicare power toothbrush is timed ~ no more guessing if you’ve brushed long enough!
Praying that the appt goes well and that God gives you wisdom/discernemnt in regards to any decisions that need to be made.

Endodontist, see I told you. I knew it sounded about as bad as my girly’s teeth. Sorry to hear she has to go through that and I hope they can find a solution that will not scare her.

@Deb, Thanks for asking! We didn’t find anything out. He refered me back to the dentist. Basically she needs to determine if the tooth is worth saving or if they should just pull it. 🙁

I’m a broke grad student who can’t afford dental insurance or visits right now (gross, right? ha!), so I’d love to own a brush that would amp up my current routine until I get back out in the working world again!
I think powered toothbrushes are much better at cleaning teeth than manual toothbrushes. I would like to try this one because of the price point.

So great that you got her the PowerUp…I never considered it before, but it’s a very grown up thing to have a powered toothbrush. My own kids still haven’t ever had one (oldest is 23!), but I am planning on getting them one for their Christmas stocking.
