We were so ready to leave the books behind and step into nature and fun! Perfect first stop on our latest family road trip was Sea Rim State Park in Port Arthur, Texas. Our family visit was part of a familiarization tour with Visit Port Arthur Texas. All opinions are my own.

The first thing my husband said when we stepped foot on Sea Rim State Park was, “I can’t believe I forgot my binoculars!” If you like to spot creatures in the wild, this is a fantastic area.

We spent most of our time exploring the gorgeous natural beaches. Sea Rim State Park has 5.2 miles of Gulf shoreline, and it’s not your typical beaches. There is a rugged beauty that draws you in, and it’s remoteness makes it an ideal spot to see wildlife.

The Man-o-wars were huge!! I love their color and always enjoy spotting them on the beach…just not when I’m swimming!

Going for a drive on the beach is not only allowed but encouraged. It’s something I had always wanted to do! It was so romantic! I still LOVE my Transit van, by the way! 🙂

We drove until we came upon this group of birds. It was fascinating to watch these three different kinds of birds all in the same general area, but very much apart from each other.

When the birds took their leave, we followed with a long walk on the beach.

I loved looking for sea life along the beach, and the kids scoured the sand for sea shells.

Sea shell hunting is always fun, but I’ve never seen so many beautiful shells left on the shore before. The kids were thrilled with their finds.
We spent most of our time on the beach, but found there is so much to do. It would be a great place to RV and enjoy all nature has to offer.
I want to go back and explore the 4,000 acres of marshlands, and take a stroll along the Gambusia Nature Trail, a boardwalk through the marsh. If you’re more adventurous, follow one of the many canoe/kayak trails. Find out more about the park here>>> Sea Rim State Park.

Spring is a great time to visit Port Arthur!

Sounds like a wonderful trip experience. The drive along the beach would be amazing. I would really love to take the family there some day!
This looks like such a fun nature adventure. It looks like your family had an amazing time.
I never knew that a man o’ war was so colorful. It would be so cool to really see sea life along the shore like that.
We’ve been talking about making a trip to Texas as a family before our daughter moves out. Sea Rim State Park sounds like the perfect first stop.
My favorite kind of beaches are the super active kind without a ton of people. I love the nature aspect to be active and boy, this beach sure was active! Love it!
This state park looks awesome! I have been to Texas but long time ago and I can’t wait to go back!
