People often ask me where to eat in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. I usually can’t help laughing because of course where to eat will depend greatly on taste in food and other things such as…children! We have five! We love to eat out, but you’ll find most of the places we frequent are kid friendly and economical as with a family of seven both are essential.
Sal’s Pizza Cafe in Bedford, Texas is one of our absolute favorite local places to eat out. My husband first had to talk me into visiting. I was just sure it couldn’t be as good as my usual favorite pizza places. I was wrong. It was love at first bite.
I’ve tried many a New York Style pizza, but never, EVER have they been this good. The first thing I fell in love with was the crust. It is so thin, perfectly crispy, and the flavor oh my goodness. This isn’t just flour and water y’all. It’s like there’s magic in the dough!
I had to ask Sal, the owner, about it. He said he begins with a starter. He explained more, but that’s all I remember. That an the fact that it’s taken his son, who also runs the restaurant, all of his adult life to master the crust. This is one pizza you just HAVE to try. Trust me!
We took my father-in-law when he visited and now it’s the place he requests every time. He can’t get over how amazing the sauce is!
I absolutely love that it’s a family owned restaurant. We often call ahead with our order so that when we get there the kids don’t have to wait so long while the pizza is being made. They know us by name!
Everything we have tried has been delicious, but I’ll also vouch for the Garlic Knots. Piping hot knots straight out of the oven covered in a garlic butter sauce. We fight for them! Even on a diet I have to indulge. It’s worth every extra mile I have to walk to burn those calories. 🙂
Another one of my favorite menu items is the Italian Sandwich. It is drizzled with balsamic vinaigrette and every bite is to die for.
Oh and did I mention the Cannoli? Wow! Make it a point to stop by next time you’re in the area. You’ll thank me! 🙂
Check them out on Facebook!

Why haven’t you taken me there? Next time I visit, I’ll request it.
