Thanks so much to Safari Wilderness for inviting our family to an adventure in the wilds of central Florida.
Get away from the crowds.
How I love central Florida. Bring on the roller coasters and theme parks! As much as I love the craziness, I always plan some days during our family vacations away from the crowds and Safari Wilderness was the perfect get-away! In anticipation of our day, I told someone I was going to see more of the real Florida, and they actually laughed at me. Granted all the animals at Safari Wilderness may not be Florida natives, but the countryside is the real deal. It was so beautiful out there!
Plan to arrive early. You may need the extra time to get there, (We did.) and you’ll want to stop by the restroom and grab a drink before you board your customized safari truck for a two and a half hour experience of a life time.
Let the memories begin! Sit back. Relax and enjoy this escape from the craziness.
Experience close animal encounters.
Llama, llama, llama! The llamas are especially friendly. As much as we loved seeing all the animals, it was the ones that came up to interact with us that the kids enjoyed most.
Our tour guide was fantastic! The trip is broken up into driving times and stopped experiences with the animals.
Feed the animals!
Another highlight was feeding the animals that would come up to us. This guy’s incredibly long tongue kept us all entertained.
See gorgeous Florida scenery.
I feasted my eyes on the beauty around me.
The 260 acres of scenic wilderness is the home to animals such as Defassa waterbuck, zebra, camels, ring-tailed and red-ruffed lemurs, red lechwe, nilgai, Kudu, watusi cattle, and more!
Everyone loves babies, but the baby zebras stole the show. The cutest!
When your safari is over there are still so many more animals to see! Pet a camel.
Feed some guinea pigs.
And observe so many interesting animals, just doing their thing!
But the most exciting experience of the day had to be…the lemurs! This is a must add on experience to the safari.
We got to go into the enclosure with the lemurs and feed them.
We would take a half a grape and put it in the palm of our hand. The lemurs came right up and even pulled our hands closer to them to take the grapes.
One of my favorite moments of the year right here! I loved, loved, loved this!
We have such great memories of our relaxing, educational, and fun time at Safari Wilderness. Our adventure proved to be a much needed balance to our vacation in central Florida. Click over to the Safari Wilderness website for more information on planning your trip!
