Reunited with my best friend

For years I looked online for Sonia, one of my best friends from grade school.  When Facebook came along and I began finding friends from all walks of life I thought that I would find her, but for years I searched in vain.  This last year she finally decided to join the masses on Facebook.  I was so excited to open my profile page one morning.  Her name jumped out at me.  I accepted her friend request and we began corresponding.

When we decided to go visit my parents over Mother’s Day I messaged her to see if we could get together.  Seeing Sonia was one of the highlights of our trip.  So many memories we share together.  We moved to Edinburg the second semester of my first grade year.  Sonia was one of the first to befriend me in that new place.   We remained best friends through my eighth grade year.  My parents sent me to boarding school for high school and slowly over the years we lost touch.

We laughed as we remembered the crazy things we did when we were kids.  Eating the half eaten pickle we found on the play ground always comes up!  Yes it was my idea!  Some things we remembered differently and it was interesting to hear her perspective after all these years.  Time has changed us both, but she is still the sweet, fun, laughing girl I remember.  I hope to have many more reunions in the future.

Esther

FB has helped me re-connect with a lot of people from childhood… when you move 14 times before graduating, it’s easy to lose track of friends. I am glad you got to have a reunion! 🙂

How exciting to find a very best friend from childhood. And it seems you haven’t changed so much that you don’t still enjoy each other.

I love stories like this! That is so wonderful that you finally found your best friend from your school days. The years go by so quickly, we were once children and that felt like forever but once we become adults it seems as though the years fly by at top speed. ;0)

Great picture of both of you, by the way.
