Practicing Our Letters in…Salt?

“Mom!” Joy screamed, “Look what Jason Jr is doing!”

I went running.  He had emptied my whole carton of salt all over the floor.  I sighed and told myself there was no use crying over spilled salt.  Well might as well make use of it!  So I grabbed my kindergartner and told her, “Today we’re practicing our letters in salt!”  She had so much fun.  When she was through her sisters enjoyed drawing in it as well.  Then no one complained about helping clean it up!  I wish I was always this constructive with our messes.

Writing in salt & sand is actually good for their motor skills. Great turning the frustrating moment into a teachable moment.
