My husband is obsessed with planting trees. He just can’t get enough. I wish I could say that we have reaped the benefits of his trees. We would if we didn’t keep moving. I like to imagine all the children playing in the shade of our trees, the squirrels playing peek-a-boo with the puppies, and the birds building their nests.
This property has been no different. After much thought and research Jason planted a couple of pecan trees and an oak tree. Then last year at the onset of spring he was looking around outside and said, “I think I’ll plant a peach tree. I’ve always wanted a peach tree.” He planted two!
It’s spring again and I’ve been wondering when the need to plant trees was going to hit my husband. I didn’t wait long. After my husband mowed the lawn he came in and declared, “I think I’ll plant another tree. In fact I might get three trees!” The Lorax would love my husband!
How do we live like the Lorax? Why we plant trees of course. My husband is great about taking the kids to help choose the trees to plant. He lets them dig in the dirt until they get bored. They love learning about growing things! Watering the trees is always great fun too. Rarely do they ever come back in the house dry though. Ah what’s a little more laundry when they can learn and have so much fun?
