We were driving one Saturday when we began seeing signs that said, “FREE.” You know that word always gets my attention especially when preceded by other words like…FOOD! I had absolutely no idea what a pet fair was when we pulled over. We had actually already eaten so we didn’t take advantage of all the free food, but there was lots to enjoy.
The City of Bedford Animal Control, I found out, does this twice a year to build awareness and to hopefully get animals adopted. There were many retail pet related vendors giving out free samples.
Inside you could walk around and see all the animals. They also had free balloons and face painting for the kids.
“See my balloon Mama?” I love how I ended up snapping the photo at that exact moment!
There were also independent people there with animals they had rescued. I talked to one lady that routinely goes to the Animal Control to rescue animals that are about to be put down. She cares for them, neuters them, and then looks for families to adopt them. I was astounded by the number of animals she said that Fort Worth puts down a day. It was a fun afternoon and we learned a lot as well.

Were you in Bedford, OH? 🙂 That’s where we live! 🙂 How funny!! 🙂
Jeni, no this was in Texas! 🙂 But it just occurred to me that we went to a pet fair, I wrote about a pet fair, and did not take one photo of a pet. lol Kinda cracked me up!
Anything “free” that can become some sort of educational experience, plus balloons, is a good time in my opinion! 🙂
