Our New Year’s Day Family Fondue Party 2011

Fondue or “fundue,” as we like to call it, has been our New Year’s Day tradition for four years running.ย  Jason bought me a fondue pot last year after reading about how I agonized over buying one.ย  I LOVE it and have so much fun using it.ย  In previous years though I stung an extension cord, plugged in a crock pot and it worked just fine!

I made a German Beer Cheese Fondue with brats, franks,ย  bread, apples, cauliflower, pickled onions, and Gherkin pickles for dippers.

Amaretto Chocolate fondue with pineapple, pretzels, strawberries, marshmallows and pound cake dippers.

We wash it all down with our favorite sparkling apple cider!

It’s the one day a year we eat all the chocolate we can possibly hold!

Happy New Year!

Will you adopt me? This is the coolest thing ever.
Your children will grow up with great memories and maybe one day incorporate this into their own families. How awesome will that be!

OOOH! I love Fondue! I’ve never tried mine with cheese yet! I think I have to now!! Sounds so yummy!! My favorite would be the stawberry’s and marshmellows with the chocolate. I’d get myself into trouble for sure! LOL!

Aw! This is SO CUTE! We’ve actually been doing fondue for the last few years for new years too!!!

I’m a fondue-a-holic! We use to eat it all the time when I lived overseas…Oh good cheese..how I miss you! …And how you’re not AS expensive there as you are here..haha! My favourite fondue was always a nice mix of traditional swiss cheeses..and when we were getting low in the pot we’d take an egg, crack it into the pot and whip it so it made a souffle-esk-thing..but was still fondue…OMG – it was the BEST and what I always looked forward to after a good cheese fondu!! Mmmm!!

I also pigged out on raclette..which is basically just melted cheese..haha! ๐Ÿ™‚

So happy I found your blog! Looking forward to reading more about your cute little family!! ๐Ÿ™‚

I think I’m coming to your house next year. I LOVE Fondue. We always did it on Christmas Eve growing up. We tried it a few years ago on Christmas Eve with my parents, but my husband didn’t like it so the fondue pots that my mom gave to me sit in storage ๐Ÿ™ Maybe I’ll make him bite the bullet next year. Or, this year since it’s this year already.
