Optimum Wellness at Banfield Pet Hospital®

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Banfield Pet Hospital®.  All opinions are my own.

Stormie at the vet Banfield Optimum Wellness #adIt is that time again.  Time for Stormie’s wellness visit.  Well, actually it was way past time for his visit, but you know me and how crazy life has been for us lately.  After my orthodontist appointment, I picked up Stormie who had been playing in the wet grass and took him in.  Poor thing.   There was no sign of the bath I had given him only two days before.  He looked a bedraggled mess, and I cringed a little expecting a tongue lashing as I have often received at the dentist office…ahem.  But the staff at Banfield Pet Hospital® were awesome.  They gave me lots of helpful advice about how to take better care of Stormie without being in anyway condescending.

Banfield Pet Hospital in PetSmart #adMy local Banfield Pet Hospital® is located inside our Petsmart store.  I am always a little worried about entering a veterinarian office with other animals.   I love that there is so much room to walk around and distance myself from other animals if need be.  My dogs tend to be protective and Stormie is no different.  He kept growling at the big dogs!  Cracked me up.

Banfield Pet Hospital® #adThe ladies at the front desk could not have been nicer.

Pet wellness visit at Banfield Hospital #adStormie received all of his vaccinations and heart worm testing.  They all came included in the Banfield Optimum Wellness Plan®!

Banfield Optimum Wellness Plan®:

· Heartworm testing can be administered during a routine office visit. Office visits are always free through Banfield’s Optimum Wellness Plan®, and many plans include annual heartworm tests.

· Banfield believes in preventive veterinary care as the best way to improve the quality and longevity of a pet’s life by reducing the risk of developing serious, costly and sometimes fatal diseases, such as heartworm disease.

· Banfield’s Optimum Wellness Plans can be customizable based on the needs of the individual pet, and combine physical exams, routinely recommended vaccinations and screenings, unlimited free office visits, service discounts and more into one affordable veterinary care package.

Did you know that there is a six month injection heart worm preventative available?  I was thrilled to learn about ProHeart® 6.  It can be prescribed to healthy dogs over the age of 6 months, and delivers six months of protection in a single dose!  A number of years ago my dog got heartworms, and it was the saddest thing. Treatment was so hard on my poor doggie to say nothing of expensive.  Still as hard as I try to remember, I still find myself forgetting to give my dogs their heart worm preventative on time.  Watch this video for more about heartworm.

A six month shot sounds like a dream!  ProHeart® 6 can protect dogs from dangerous heartworm disease by preventing immature worms from maturing into adults that cause damage in the pet’s heart.  Before a pet can start on heartworm preventive, he/she needs to be tested to make sure they are free of adult heartworms —this is done through a quick, simple blood test at your veterinarian’s office.  Here is a link to a coupon for $10 off a 6-month injectable heartworm preventive.

GIVEAWAY:  For a chance to win a free office visit at Banfield Pet Hospital for a dog to receive a free heartworm test and free 6-months of Proheart® 6 (for dogs only).  Click here to find a Banfield Pet Hospital near you.

Protective? My guess is you likely don’t have time to socialize them. BUT please don’t think I’m criticizing you. I have a “feeling” it’s improper socialization because that is exactly how our german shepherd acts. Be glad Stormy is a small dog and your other dog’s breed isn’t know for aggression. It could be a whole ‘nother category otherwise.

Again, no condemnation, my dog is just awful with other dogs and we always have to keep him at home. No parks or fun trips with him because he can’t handle it, and neither can we.

@R, You may be right! My pouches definitely don’t have much opportunity to socialize with other dogs. And yes, I’m glad he is small!

I love Banfield and have been using them for years for both my dogs. Both dogs are in their Wellness program. That’s great that Banfield will be donating for each comment (up to $100).

I’ve seen Banfield Pet Hospitals at both my local Petsmart stores! We don’t have any pets but my friend takes her cat to the one closest to us and she loves it there.

How awesome a vet inside a store. Complete two things at once. The new shot every six months sounds like a big time saver.
