Texas pride! How I love my state! In my younger days (Believe it or not one of my nicknames was “Little Spit Fire.”) I may have been known to get rather…out loud and passionate in discussions about my state. I may or may not have gotten in arguments if someone dared a disparaging remark about my Texas. Ahem. Now that I’m much more civilized, I’m not so loud and in people’s faces, and I’ve realized people have the right to be wrong, bless their hearts. Ha! No, but really, I love this grand state I call home for so, so many reasons, but here are just a few:
The food! We of course created all things Tex-Mex, and I just can’t get enough. We, arguably, created the Hamburger, and we know how to make it right. When asked where to eat in Texas you’ll probably get where to find the best burger, BBQ, Steak, or Tex-Mex. We’ve got ya covered!
Our cowboy culture. My dad was a cowboy, a real, live bronc bustin’ rodeo cowboy. How I love his stories of the old days. Thanks to him I grew up around horses and lots of animals on our acreage. In Texas the cowboy culture is still alive. If you’ve never been, go to a rodeo.
Bluebonnets. Fields and fields of bluebonnets. Oh the beauty of Texas in the spring. My kids always try to be the first to see the bluebonnets on the side of the roads. Then everywhere go we all call out the bluebonnet sightings. They are breathtaking!
The beach. I grew up an hour from the Gulf Coast. Oh so many wonderful family memories at the beach! Be careful not to feed the sea gulls though. They are Texas huge and friendly, and they are not shy about taking your food!
The heat! Wait. Ok, not so much the heat. Ha ha! Here’s my little poem.
I love Texas in the fall.
I love Texas in the winter.
I love Texas in the spring.
In the summer, I love my air conditioner!
Ha ha! But it does help to be prepared for the heat. It’s this time of year in the spring that I love to put a case of Ozarka® Brand Natural Spring Water in the back of my Texas sized van for anytime we get thirsty. That way I’m ready for the heat whenever it comes. Wow! Y’all would not believe how many times that water has come in handy.
Ozarka® is from…Texas! All of their spring sites can be found within 100 miles of each other in East Texas. Having lived in East Texas for a couple of years, I just love that a big part of what Ozarka® does is to preserve the beauty of our state by sustainably managing their spring sites. Ozarka® has been a trusted part of Texas history for more than 100 years.
