You know how I was very slow to jump on the smart phone band wagon because those plans out there were so incredibly expensive. By the time we signed over two years and added text and web we didn’t think we’d be able to afford supper! So it wasn’t until about a year ago when my husband and I found a prepaid service that worked with a smart phone that I finally joined the rest of you guys in your talk of apps! We had the lowest price rate plan out there; we thought. We were wrong! My husband does not like to be wrong when it comes to having the best deal!
I have never seen a better value! Walmart Family Mobile is the lowest priced unlimited plan available at Walmart. For $40 a month you receive unlimited talk, text, and web! This is even a better deal than what we already had! There are no contracts. Payment is monthly, but it is a little different from a pre-paid service. It is rather a post-paid service since you pay at the end of the month instead of up front!
Walmart Family Mobile sent us a Galaxy S II smart phone to try out their service. I cannot tell you how excited I am about this phone. My previous phone, which served as the family phone, was much smaller, only 3G, and did not have all the capabilities of the Galaxy S II. We are thrilled to upgrade our phone! We will be traveling again in May, and I am hoping to better keep up on social media, take better photos, and keep from getting lost with the GPS!
After receiving my phone in the mail, I went to Walmart to purchase what I needed for activation. To read about my entire shop check out my Google+ album! The guys working in electronics were so kind and helpful. They said they could set up my phone for me right then! I was a little pressed for time, had all five kids with me, and didn’t know if I would be able to remember all my passwords etc to switch over our same phone number so I purchased the starter kit and decided to activate my phone from home.
From home you can either activate your phone via the Walmart Family Mobile website or you can call and speak to one of their representatives. I always like to speak to someone if possible so I gathered my things to make sure I had all the info I would need and dialed the number. The guy on the phone was great! He walked me through everything, answered all of my questions, and had my phone activated in less than half an hour.
I think we’re in love again…if only we won’t fight over our new phone!

WHAT!!? $40 unlimited? We are switching!! LOL Such a good post Esther!!
Blessings!
You two are sooo cute = )
Share nicely ~ no fighting over the new phone or else you’ll lose your phone privileges!!
What a great deal. I think we need to get this, too.

I also have the Samsung Galaxy S2 and I LOVE IT!! I don’t even know how I used to function without it. It has everything I never knew I needed lol. I keep hesitating on the upgrades because I am so in love with this phone I’m afraid of being disappointed lol 🙂
Any way to save on that is worth it!! Great post!!
My Jason was just looking at this! How is it for streaming video and music? That is his only hesitation. 🙂 Thanks for the review.
I am so excited for you and your family to have this great phone!! What a great monthly price, too.
I need to get out of the dark ages and get a new phone myself. Very nice post!!
This is awesome-just wish the coverage was better in our area-once it is I am signing up!
I was wondering can any of the phones function as hotspots?
This is $10 cheaper than my current plan and we dont have a smartphone. The only thing I don’t know is if I would be okay with only having 1gb for download and how fast the streaming is.
Streaming–It works great for me! Now granted,I’m not streaming 24/7, but when I have streamed something it is great.
I will check on these other questions and get back to you guys!
This is $20 a month less than my daughter is paying now. Definitely need to check this out!

You guys are too cute! I am going to have to check out this plan. I am paying $50 a month and have no data plan and can only use data if I am connected to wi-fi!
@Shelley, Yes the Galaxy II that I received (pictured above) can function as a hot spot! I was so excited to find this out and will be using it on our up coming vacation. I’ll tell you how it works when I get back!
Good info! I’ve been planning to get a smartphone (finally) with Straight Talk. I’ll compare when I get to Walmart. Thanks!
Greetings. How are you and the family? I wanted to know is the hotspot availiable on any or the samsung galaxy 4 phones with the myfamilymobile plan? Thanks for your cooperation.
Such a great affordable plan for families!
I have had the s2 on the Wal-mart family plane 40.00 for about 3 weeks now .here is the breakdown.t-mobile will not give you 4g .3g almost.1.5 mbs .it is enough to keep the streaming of any video going like Netflix or Youtube over the web.if you move to the wrong side of your home you will drop to edge speed.that will tick you off because you cannot do much of anything with that.the call quality is ok.check out the coverage map online .a lot of the U.S. is not covered data or voice .Mainly Midwest .support for the service is ok.Now to the most popular phone Wal-mart sells for the plan. The Samsung Galaxy s2.I was very disappointed.the call quality is 4 out of 10.the earpiece very low,the ring tones very low .the response from the touch screen very non responsive at times .it lags on wifi or 3g.it has the best screen ,good 8mp camera and 16 gb internal mem.the colors on the screen are fantastic .the viewing angle is great .just as good as the best lcd tv out there. i am looking for a used s3 or s4 maybe it will solve the low audio issue .in the mean time download a program called “ZEDGE” from the play store .good ring and notification tones.the phone 4-10.please check into getting another phone i think the service will be fine. i like the price and the 5gb of data that was the deal maker for me.

I have a WFM plan and I have yet to connect to the internet unless I have WIFI connection. I am still checking because it is new but I don’t get Data off of any antennas. Also, any messages that are MMS (picture) require download which never completes. The MMS thing seems commom on several services and had just started as an issue with my MetroPCS but is a common topic on Android blogs.
I use the S2 on the $40.00 everything plan and my bill keeps going up. At first it was $49.28 then $49.30 for three months and last month (just got bill Jan. 12 2014) and it is $49.45! I hardly use any internet as in 2-2.5 mega bites NOT Gig. I don’t use more than 200 minutes a month talk time and maybe 100 texts or so a month. My S2 also has a low volume even turned up to highest. I did buy this phone at Wal-Mart too. I just lowered it to the unlimited talk and text for $29.88. Let’s see how much the total bill is for a few months. I just may switch to a prepaid plan and use wifi where I can get it as well as off my home router.
