More from my niece Skylar Ashley who flew in to stay with our children while we were to be gone on an Alaskan cruise. She was kind enough to send me some stories to share with you. Her first day she had quite the scare. Day 2 she was terrorized by two small boys. Day 3 was the run in with her mother over what my kids were watching. I love the story she is sharing today. It’s so fun to see my kids through other people’s eyes.
Saturday, my other aunt in Dallas and her son Zach planned to come over to visit. Her specific reason was “to give me some adult company.” Ha ha. They came just before everyone’s afternoon quite time, so we sent the older kids up to their rooms to play quietly while the younger ones napped. I was finally able to sit and eat lunch and we had a great time visiting.
Sunday, I was plain too tired to attempt going to their church. Just the thought of having to get ready, get all the kids ready, then drive around looking for it and drive home in Sunday traffic… No thank you! Instead, we read the book of Esther, watched some christian cartoons, and had prayer time.
In the afternoon, we all walked to the store down the road. I’d never been, so when they started protesting the walk, I took a play from my mom’s book and shouted “This! Is an Adventure!” They then took this opportunity to lead the way, and show me all the tips and tricked of a run to the store.
When we got to the store, it was hot outside so everyone was hot and thirsty! I told them they could all pick a drink. Little Jason immediately ran to the wall of refrigerators “I’m getting Zach’s drink!” I had no idea what he meant by this until he brought me the bright yellow bottled soda brand his cousin had been drinking the day before.
The next Saturday, Zach and his mom came over again. At lunch time, Little Jason ran to the fridge and pulled out the bottle he’d been so carefully sipping and saving. “Zach, look! I’m just like you!”
