A number of years ago I spent a summer training my girls to help me keep a clean home. It wasn’t that they weren’t helping at all. They would do a job when I asked them, but I needed them taking ownership of some of the responsibilities. We needed a routine.
Of course you need great cleaning products! While I was doing my regular grocery shopping at Kroger I picked up my usual Windex® and Pledge® cleaners, but found a new product as well–the Pledge® Multisurface! Check out the Buy 4 Save $4 Mega Event on these products at Kroger! (Kroger Affiliates Include Baker’s Supermarkets, City Market, Dillons Food Stores, Fry’s Food And Drug, Gerbes Super Markets, Harris Teeter, Jay C, King Soopers, Owen’s, Pay Less Super Markets, QFC, Ralphs, Scott’s, Smith’s, Fred Meyer, and Food 4 Less.) Mega Event for Windex is 11/3-11/15 and for Pledge is 11/10-12/27. I always love to save on my favorite products!
After our quiet time in the afternoon everyone pitches in to pick up and clean house. Each child has to clean their own room. Then each of my girls has a bathroom that they are responsible for. We all pitch in to fold and put away laundry. Grace also takes care of everything out of place upstairs. Joy has dish duty. She washes any dirty dishes and unloads the dishwasher. Faith, my teenager, gets the dining area. She is to clean the table, chairs, and floor as well as the window on the door to the back yard.
The windows are one of our favorite things to clean! To get sparkling windows in a jiffy follow my tips. First start with a smile! Everything is more fun when you start with a smile.
Beginning at the top spray Windex® so that it lightly covers the entire window. Doing it all at once saves time.
Then we like to take a paper towel and begin at the bottom, that way none of the cleaning liquid drips down past the window, and work our way up wiping the Windex® and grime off in quick side to side motions. Repeat on the other side! Tada! #InstaClean!
While my girls have been doing an excellent job with their daily responsibilities, I found I had neglected my boys. All they had been responsible for is cleaning their own rooms and picking up their toys. At six and almost three, there is so much more they can do to help.
Now the boys are helping with so much more from putting away laundry to sweeping and dusting. They can be great little helpers and the job is so much easier when everyone works together!
Don’t forget to pick up your favorite Windex® and Pledge® cleaners at the Mega Event at Kroger!
