A huge thanks to Embassy Suites for hosting Joy and me for a night at their Grapevine, Texas location. All opinions are my own.
Our Mommy and Me Day began at the Grapevine Mills Mall with our first Build-A-Bear Workshop experience. When we had shopped and snacked and walked until we were tired we found our hotel for the night–the Embassy Suites in Grapevine, TX.
The first thing we did was find our room. It was on the 12th floor, and Joy and I both thought it was so fun to see the view from up there.
We walked around the 12th floor looking for our number. We came to double doors. Joy and I looked at each other. “This can’t be right,” Joy said, “All the other rooms just have one door.” I tried the key anyway and sure enough the door opened.
Oh my goodness! We could not believe our eyes. Embassy Suites treated us to their two bedroom penthouse! It was breathtakingly beautiful. I’ll give you a quick tour! The double doors opened to a spacious foyer. The left side led to a living area.
The right side led to a bedroom.
Joy and I looked around wide eyed. It was perfect!
We walked back around to the living area.
Joy plopped down on the couch and hugged her rainbow leopard. She was so excited.
The suite just keeped going. I was surprised first to find a dining room table.
Then we found a second bedroom and bathroom!
Would you believe there was even a balcony with tables and chairs overlooking Lake Grapevine? It was all so beautiful! And as a family of seven I couldn’t help feeling a little guilty that we were sharing this humongous suite just the two of us. How the family would have loved to join in on the fun. I had to shove those thoughts from my mind though and focus on the present–my sweet daughter!
After settling in our suite we headed down to the evening reception. I knew we shouldn’t have eaten so many snacks at the mall, because the evening reception was fantastic! With drinks, a variety of trail mixes, fruit, hummus and chips, and popcorn. There was something for everyone.
I love the relaxing atmosphere in the Embassy Suites courtyard. It’s the perfect place to visit over yummy snacks and relax.
Then we went exploring. We found a hallway leading to the Uncle Buck’s Restaurant and the Bass Pro Shops. I have always wanted to eat here. I think it’s beautiful. I want to go back with my husband!
We ventured on into the Bass Pro Shops and looked at all the animals, and couldn’t resist a box of the Bass Pro fudge. Mmm! We bought enough to take home to the family. The new favorite flavor is birthday cake!
You cannot get bored at Embassy Suites Grapevine. After we had explored the grounds we went up and quickly changed into our swim suits and headed to the pool. I love that Embassy Suites has a heated indoor pool and hot tub so you can enjoy a swim any time of the year. We swam and relaxed for about an hour until Joy was ready to turn in for the night.
We entered the suite and before I even got around the corner. Joy was yelling, “Mom! You have to come look!” A tray of snacks and cans of Cokes welcomed us back to the room. We saved these to enjoy during our late night movie!
Embassy Suites also treated us to a complimentary Giant Cookie Sundae via room service. We played cards and munched on ooey gooey fresh baked chocolate chip cookie!
Joy only made it through the first half hour of the movie before falling asleep. Me? Hey, I wasn’t going down so easy. I think the thriller I found that night lasted until (gulp) 2am! That’s okay though. I could sleep in right? Ha! Joy was up before seven.
I was reluctant to get out of bed until I remembered breakfast. I had so been looking forward to it. I absolutely love the made-to-order omelettes at Embassy Suites. They are the BEST! You just add the veggies you want in a bowl and tell them what meat you want. Yum!
Besides the omelettes Embassy Suites also offers a huge spread of hot food, fruit, muffins and so much more, but for me, I was happy with my omelette and a mini Belgian waffle. Hungry yet?
Alas all good things must come to an end right? We stayed in our room talking and watching TV until the very last second.
We said goodbye to the Embassy Suites and headed back to Grapevine Mills Mall for a few more purchases and then caught a movie before going back home.
We had so much fun! So many great memories just Joy and I together. Joy has hardly stopped talking about her day. It was such a great time for both of us to have that one-on-one time with no interruptions. If you have multiple children, I encourage you to try our Mommy and Me tradition. With the good times shared and the memories built you won’t be sorry!

I was one of seven, and back in the day there was no such thing as “Mommy and Me”. But my mom did try to run errands with just one kid at a time here and there. Let me tell you, those memories are still precious to me over thirty years later. It is a wonderful thing you are doing for your kids. They will never forget these outings. I only have two children, so I feel that I spend tons of time with each one, especially since we homeschool. But your “Mommy and Me” posts are so beautiful that they have me thinking about doing some special outings like these.
Thank you so much for the feedback Karen! Even with two I know they will feel so special when you set a day aside just for them. Have fun! 🙂
