Mommy and Me time at Burger Box

One of the positive things that came out of all Faith’s tooth problems is that she and I got to spend quite a bit of time alone going back and forth to the doctors.  You would think that finding one-on-one time with kids as a stay at home mom wouldn’t be a big issue, but with five kids it is something I struggle with.  So many times I will have put all the kids to bed and then realized that I never hugged one of my children that day or told them that I love them.  I want each one to know and feel like they are special to me.

Burger BoxSo when Faith asked me if we could get shakes on the way home one day, I’m so glad that I took the time to spend just with her.  Burger Box is my favorite place to go for shakes.

Blue Bell at Burger BoxI am actually not a huge shake fan, but Burger Box hand scoops Blue Bell ice cream into their shakes.  Need I say more?  The mint chocolate chip shake at Burger Box is my all time favorite.  The huge chunks of chocolate just melt in your mouth, yum!  In fact I wish I had one right now!

Mommy and Me TimeWe each ordered a shake and then split the Jalapeno Poppers.  We had so much fun talking and laughing.  It always amazes me at how much closer I feel to one of my children after getting away for a little while just with them.  “Mom, this was a great day!” she said as we walked back to the car to go home.

Even though I hadn’t planned the outing together I’m so glad I took the time.  Jason is really good about being spontaneous and taking one child on an errand with him to spend some special time, but I have a harder time deviating from my plan.  This was one occasion that I’m so happy I was spontaneous; maybe there’s hope for me yet!
